The law-makers discussed amendments to the Article 260 of the Criminal Code of Georgia which refers to dissociation of criminal liability for drug-crimes. On May 6, Tbilisi City Court acquitted Giorgi Tsomaia in the imposed charge – assault on police officer. Judge Khatuna Kharchilava at the Criminal Case Collegium at the Tbilisi City Court reviewed Giorgi Tsomaia’s case. Lawyer Mariam Neparidze and lawyer of Human Rights Center Tamar Avaliani defended Tsomaia’s interests at the court.

On May 1, 2015, the Parliament of Georgia approved “the Code of Imprisonment” and substantial package of related draft laws with the third hearing which gives the Public Defender and the member of the Special Preventive Group the right to make photo recordings in penitentiary establishments starting from September 1, 2016. The legislative package envisages conduction of the institutional reform in the penitentiary system.
