Husband Seized Child from a Domestic Violence Victim Woman
25 year old woman Natela Dumbadze, residing in one of the villages in Gurjaani municipality, is a victim of violence. The whole family, a husband, a mother and father in laws, were abusing her. 

The Constitutional Court upheld Ucha Nanuashvili’s claim
“Once and for all, there should be established an election system in the country that will be maximally fair and objective and, I believe, this decision will fulfill a catalyst function in this regard”, - this was the Public Defender’s reaction to a decision made by the Constitutional Court concerning constitutionality of the rule determining majoritarian election districts.

Georgian Constitutional Court has ruled that country’s existing electoral system, in particular its majoritarian component, undermines equality of vote and should be changed.
Lawyer of Tchabuka Tchabukadze was not permitted to see him
The employees of regional headquarters of MIA in Kakheti arrested and beat 30-year-old Tchabuka Tchabukadze at night on May 21. The incident took place in village Vejini of Gurjaani municipality while the young man was standing in front of his own house with his friends. As a result of beating, Tchabukadze has multiple physical injuries. He is placed in the multi-profile medical center “Geo Hospitals” in Gurjaani. 
Physical Assault of Citizens by the Police
Representatives of Human Rights Center held a press conference on May 19 about recent facts of physical assault of citizens by policemen. The human rights defenders talked about illegal activities of the police against Tornike Margiani and Alexander Akhalkatsi. 
Who will review the unlawful judgments, Gvenetadze or Papuashvili?
Apparently, after 3 years being  in Government, “Georgian Dream” is starting to review unlawful judgments. Minister of Justice has confirmed the information that the bill, which was drafted through consultation with the Prosecutor’s Office and officials of the Supreme Court, is ready.

With the initiative of the Minister of Justice in the end of 2012 rehabilitation and re-socialization program was launched, which is implemented by the Crime Prevention Center. On May 1, Human Rights Committee of the Parliament reviewed the bill initiated by the government. The law-makers discussed amendments to the Article 260 of the Criminal Code of Georgia which refers to dissociation of criminal liability for drug-crimes. The discussion was closed for civil society organizations.
Court Acquitted Giorgi Tsomaia
On May 6, Tbilisi City Court acquitted Giorgi Tsomaia in the imposed charge – assault on police officer. Judge Khatuna Kharchilava at the Criminal Case Collegium at the Tbilisi City Court reviewed Giorgi Tsomaia’s case. Lawyer Mariam Neparidze and lawyer of Human Rights Center Tamar Avaliani defended Tsomaia’s interests at the court.

State of Human Rights in Georgia
In April of 2014 Georgian Parliament adopted National Strategy on Human Rights with the aim to ensure effective realization of human rights with relevant legislative, institutional and practical changes. The document set forth strategic plan to tackle prevalent human rights problems in number of directions, including protection of rights of minorities, combating gender-based violence, safeguarding freedom of religion, ensuring right to peaceful assembly and manifestations, developing mechanism for effective investigation of human rights violations by Georgian law enforcement bodies, and etc...
Public Defender and the Special Preventive Group Member will be Granted the Right to Take Photos in Penitentiary Establishments
On May 1, 2015, the Parliament of Georgia approved “the Code of Imprisonment” and substantial package of related draft laws with the third hearing which gives the Public Defender and the member of the Special Preventive Group the right to make photo recordings in penitentiary establishments starting from September 1, 2016. The legislative package envisages conduction of the institutional reform in the penitentiary system.

Court Dispute about Guardianship of Underage Child of a Person with Cancer
22-year-old Meri Nadirashvili has cancer. Her former husband Levan Razmiashvili requests guardianship for their child. Meri Nadirashvili was diagnosed of cancer two years ago. At that moment she was three-month pregnant. Husband abandoned Meri because of the disease. The patient was operated on several times and the child was born healthy though the young woman’s health conditions worsened.

Magdalena Archvadze has been claiming 100 sq. meters of plot and so called “finish wagon” on it for several years already. The plot and the wagon are located in the territory of the outdoor museum. Magdalina Archvadze said the museum gave the plot to her and she purchased the wagon from the Public Food Company.
Court Granted Permanent Residence Permit to Citizen of Egypt
“The Counter-Intelligence Department [CID] considers it is not reasonable to grant permanent residential permit to an applicant,” citizen of Egypt Emad Ibrahim Khalil Ibrahim received this conclusion several times form the CID. As a result, State Services Development Agency of the Ministry of Justice refused to grant residence permit in Georgia without considering the propriety of the CID conclusion.
