NDI’s Question about Bidzina Ivanishvili’s Call Is Inaccurate

There are no significant changes in the results of the polls carried out by American National Democratic Institute – NDI. The priorities are also the same. Only increased mistrust to the CEC is the news. There was another interesting data – although we speak much about gender equality, the poll results show that population will not support female candidates. 37% of interviewed people states the country is democratic but it still needs improvement.

On August 9, Human Rights Center discovered one small poster with the National Movement’s election number 5 and large poster of the same political party in the working room of the head of Military Office at the Rustavi self-government body. The large poster is photo of the President and elderly people; at the bottom of it there is a slogan together with Number 5: “Georgia without Poverty.”

The thing is that ruling party opened 10 new offices in Rustavi before elections. Employees of Ltd Gareganateba [outdoor illumination] work dressed in the National Movement’s t-shirts in Telavi. The Ltd is financed with 100 000 lari from the local budget. As Irine Urushadze-the lawyer of Transparency International - Georgia told ICK it is abuse the administrative resources and bribery of voters.

On September 4th Human Rights Center published intermediate report of monitoring of pre-election period which talks about concrete violations observed during election process. At the press-conference held in Human Rights Center, among other violations, special emphasis is paid to the activity of State Audit Service the work of which was unconstitutional for five months.

From August 19 to August 25, Information Center of Mtskheta-Mtianeti observed 2 facts of firing people from jobs, 1 attempt of failing pre-election meeting, 2 facts of seizing social aid on political grounds, 2 facts of oppression and 3 facts of usage of administrative resources by the National Movement. Police did not respond to 2 facts which contained signs of criminal offence and hindered pre-election meetings of the Georgian Dream’s majoritarian candidates with voters.
