Competition for Vacant Positions of Public Servants Protested in Guria

Amendments were introduced to the Law on Public Service at the end of June of 2013. It states that competition for the vacant positions of public servants was to be announced in municipalities before January 1, 2014. Many people, including public servants protested the competition in Guria. On November 15, several members of the Georgian Dream prevented the chairman of the municipal board to raise this question at the board session.

Strike Finished With Results – Requirements of Railway Workers to Be Implemented

After the negotiation with the Council of Directors at the Georgian Railway the workers stopped strike late at night of November 14. According to the Confederation of Georgian Trade Unions, the negotiations lasted six hours and all requirements of the New Trade Union of Railway Workers were satisfied. The parties even signed a protocol, based on which the railway administration officially took responsibility to satisfy their requests.

Committee members noted that despite the fact that Sajaia stated family matters as the reason for her inability to attend parliamentary meetings, her absence might be caused by her current post-graduate studies at George Washington Unversity's Law School in Washington, DC.
