Open Day for Socially Indigent Population at Human Rights House Tbilisi

Since June 1, 2013 free legal aid center has been functioning at Human Rights House Tbilisi; lawyers of HRHT member organizations Article 42 of the Constitution and Human Rights Center provide indigent population of Georgia, IDPs, people with disabilities, retired people, prisoners and beneficiaries of other closed institutions with free legal aid.

Ureki – Zone of Natural Disaster

On August 18, heavy rain started at 6:00 am and flooded some parts of resort town Ureki: Meskhi Street, Dumbadze Street, so called Police Street. The storm caused a landslide near the flats of former agricultural farm.

Demonstration with Participation of Cows in Batumi

Another group of eco-migrants returned from Gorelovka village of Ninotsminda district to Adjara. Six families unsuccessfully requested solution of their problems in front of the Adjara government office. Eco-migrants held unusual demonstrations – they brought the cattle to the government office by truck, which they could not feed because of lack of pastures in Ninotsminda district.

GYLA Does not Agree with the Densus Survey

Based on the order of the US State Department Company Densus prepared a conclusion about the events of May 26, 2011. According to the survey results, police used proportionate force when dispersing protest demonstration on May 26; demonstrators were armed with shields and truncheons. Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association, which also published survey conclusion with regard to the events of May 26, does not agree with the Densus’ conclusion in several aspects.

21 Years after the Armed Conflict in Abkhazia

On August 14, 1992 armed conflict broke out in Abkhazia. Main phase of military operations lasted 13 months and 13 days and finished on September 27, 1993 with the fall of Sokhumi. After the war, about 300 000 people had to flee from Abkhazia. About 10 000 soldiers and civilians were killed in military operations.
Culture Heritage Which We Neglect – Ancient Mine in Sakdrisi

Status of culture heritage was seized from the monument of 3030-2918 B.C located in a small town of Sakdrisi in Bolnisi district. The commission set up by the Ministry of Culture decided that status of culture heritage was granted to the monument without any grounds.

Threats of liberalized visa policy and its economic significance, how can the country’s security be guaranteed in liberalized visa regime so that investors did not face obstacles when operating in the country? It is one of the main questions which law makers will have to answer in near future together with partner nongovernmental and international organizations and to revise liberal visa policy in the country. The project was presented in Gori; it is implemented by the Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association and Caucasian Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development.

If not ordinary January evening and suddenly discovered group on the social network Facebook – Georgians at Roger Waters Live-Concert in Istanbul, I would not have written this blog and would not have attended the best ever show in the world; I would not have been caught in the dispersal of assemblies in Taksim Square and I would not have thought where I was then.
