Ruisi Population protests closed roads because of constructing autobahn

Confrontation between the Kareli Municipality governor and some of the locals from Ruisi continues. On May 22 the locals gathered near the Ruisi’s section of Tbilisi-Senaki-Leselidze highway, protested abolition of access roads to their plots as a result of construction of autobahn.
People affected by halted constructions

I paid the cost of the apartment- 40 000 USD throughout24 months according to the schedule composed by the company. Karajala residents report 5 more women plan to move to Syria

According to the media, two women from Karajala village of Telavi municipality, Irada Gharibova and Anna Suleimanova left for Syria via Turkey. Some locals confirm this information, but some people say they went to Turkey for trading. Husbands of Irada Gharibova and Anna Suleimanova are looking for them. Afterwards, information was spread in Karajala village of Telavi municipality that five more women from the village plan to move to Syria.
Evicted from Melikishvili str. # 47 live in the street

On March 28 this year, 13 families were evicted from the building in Melikishvili str. # 47. The fate of the homeless people is still unclear. Among evicted people are little children, old and bed-bounded sick people.

On April 27, building company Archi Group started to cut down trees to start construction in Tamarashvili Street 13 that was protested by local inhabitants. Members of the Guerilla Gardening also protested the fact. They have been monitoring the territory of Hippodrome for several months already. Independent deputy of Tbilisi City Council Aleksandre Elisashvili is also against construction in the recreation zone of Hippodrome.

On May 1, Human Rights Center presented its annual human rights report – State of Human Rights in Georgia in 2014. The report presents human rights situation in Georgia throughout 2014 and in the beginning of 2015. The report was prepared based on the findings of Human Rights Center, other local nongovernmental organizations, Public Defender’s Office of Georgia and other international organizations with financial support of National Endowment for Democracy.
