Kvemo Kartli Regional Administration Found Two-Month Work for Unemployed Citizens Before Elections

11:00 am July 6, Rustavi. There was a queue of citizens at the entrance to the two-storey glass building of Kvemo Kartli regional administration. The waiting room on the ground floor was crowded with young and middle age citizens. “Are you here to find job?” a young girl asked me. As soon as she learned that we were not rival job seekers, she started speaking about her problems.

Georgian Dream activists that hold meeting in Mtskheta were called by police officers to come to police station. Georgia Dream Dusheti headquarter chief officer Dodo Chokheli said that the director of Kvesheti village public school, Kamila Khevsurishvili is threatening to expel the children who support Georgian Dream.
Police Officer Assaulted Film-Crew of Info 9

Film crew of the Info 9 was physically assaulted in the village Tsedisi. Journalist Rezo Nadiradze and the cameraman Lekso Alexidze arrived in the village to cover the protest assembly. Tsedisi residents intended to block the road in request of drinking water. Suddenly, car with state number SOV 001 arrived in the village.

Sidestepping the law on social advertising

The Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) and several private TV channels have been airing advertising videos, showing and highlighting achievements and future plans of the Government of Georgia and specific government organizations in recent weeks. These ads are so-called social advertising, meaning that the organization that ordered the ad does not pay TV stations for having it shown. However, the ads in question often fail to meet the criteria of social advertising and may rather be qualified as political advertising.
What Happened in Lilo?

At about 9:00 pm on July 3, chlorine leaked from a tank in one of the private enterprises located in the area of Navtmsheni, Lilo Settlement. The rescue team tried to move the tank to a safe place but at that time more chlorine leaked from the tank. They tried instead to neutralize the leaked chlorine using water cannon and also changed the tank’s damaged tap.

Arbitrary Prisoner

On June 24, police detained Head of Coalition Georgian Dream’s Akhmeta office and member of the district municipal board from the Republic Party Zakaria Kinkladze. Telavi District Court sentenced him to 25-day administrative imprisonment. Evidence collected by the Information Center of Kakheti and witness statements prove that Zakaria Kinkladze had not committed the alleged crime.
Journalists in Regions Are Still Prohibited to Cover President’s Visits

President’s administration still creates problems for local independent journalists to cover President’s visits in the regions of Georgia. Although, on June 2, head of president’s administration Irma Nadirashvili met media representatives and discussed how to simplify coverage of the president’s visits for journalists, the situation has not changed since then.

Reservist – Danger Expected after October 25

Information Center of Kakhet [ICK] interviewed one of the leaders of the volunteer military reserve army Mate Mateshvili. He said the government is expecting threat after October 25 of 2012. Gerber knives were distributed among reservists, who took five-day military training, and they will receive automatic guns in case of necessity.
