The Fire in the Occupied Territory Was Localized
September 5, 2017
The fire in the occupied territory broke out during night hours on September 3. The bushes and forest nearby the Gori municipality villages of Zemo Artsevi and the occupied village Otevi were on fire. The fire in the occupied territory got so strong that it was visible from the villages in the Georgia controlled territory. Fire-brigades and rescue teams were working alongside the occupation line to combat the spread of the fire.
Human Rights Center Evaluates the Verdict into the so-called Cyanide Case

Care Taker of the Street Dogs in Signagi Was Beaten

42-years-old Matilda Mirzoeva was beaten in front of the municipal administration building in Signagi. She has multiple injuries on the body. As Mirzoeva told Reginfo, at about 8 pm on August 28, she was trying to take street dog from the town center to the dog shelter, when 22-years-old man attacked her and physically assaulted.

Family of Jaba Bojgua Requests Restoration of Social Allowance

Mother of Jaba Bojgua, Manana Gvalia said her family has lost social allowance several months ago. She used to get the social allowance of 156 GEL per month during four years. In the end of January, 2017, the state cancelled the social allowance for the family because of the used electricity. According to the Social Agency, nowadays, the family has different rating points – 69 340.

“Rise” of the Former Regional Governor’s Family – 300 hectares of land under ownership

Marine Gviniashvili, after her son Irakli Shiolashvili was appointed to the position of the Kakheti regional governor, purchased 83 hectares of land in Dedoplistskaro municipality for 18 000 USD and 65 000 GEL. Genadi Shiolashvili, the father of the governor, owns 215 hectares of agricultural land. The former regional governor did not mention the parents in his financial declarations even though they lived together.

Dashgin and Orkhan Agalarls Will not Be Expelled from Georgia Human Rights Center defends interests of Dashgin Agalarl, who is a member of the opposition political party Musavat in Azerbaijan. He was persecuted by the Azerbaijani authority for years because of his political views and criticism of the government’s policy. Dashgin Agalarl and his son, Orkhan Agalarl have been living in Georgia since 2014 and seek refugee status here.
Statistics of Kidnapping of Georgian Citizens across the Occupation Line

From January 1 to June 27, 2017 78 citizens of Georgia have been abducted alongside the occupation line for the alleged charge of illegal crossing of the so-called border with the de-facto South Ossetia. Press-center of the State Security Service provided humanrights.ge with the statistics. The statistics for each month is the following: 7 citizens were abducted in January, 2017; 7 citizens in February; 8 – in March, 8 in April, 8 in May, 27 in June and 12 in July. In 2016, 134 citizens of Georgia were arrested for the crossing of the so-called border.

On July 19, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, during his official visit in Georgia, arrived in the villages on the occupation line together with the President of Georgia. The Presidents started the visit from the village Odzisi, adjacent to the occupation line in Akhalgori municipality, from where they could see the Russian military base constructed after the 2008 August war.

Fake Investment in Akhmeta – Fake Deals of the Municipality Governor with His Friend

Akhmeta municipality administration sold two agricultural plots with the space of 8 090 square meters to Archil Kotchliashvili in 2015 with the condition to carry out investment in the land within 2 years. In fact, the agreement with the “investor” did not envisage any investment obligations but the Akhmeta municipality governor prolonged the investment term for 4 years and finally the plots were registered on the brother of his closest friend Mamuka Kholegashvili.
