Concrete Hedge Was Constructed Around the 18th Century Church in Matani Village without Permission

There is the 18th Century Church in the yard of the Ancient Fortress, which belonged to the Georgian noble family of the Cholokashvili’s in Matani village, Akhmeta municipality. The Church has status of the cultural heritage. Recently, the locals, upon agreement with the Alaverdi Church Eparchy, constructed a concrete hedge around the church and the stairs without official permission from the respective state institutions. The width of the hedge is almost 2 meters and the height about 1 meter.
Two Months Passed after the Tragedy in Takhtisdziri Village

On August 13, two months had passed since two women were ruthlessly killed in Takhtisdziri village, but the investigation is still underway. The investigation was commenced under the Article 109 Part III of the Criminal Code of Georgia which applies to the premeditated murder in aggravating conditions.

The water-flood of June 10 caused 10 million GEL damage in Surami, Khashuri municipality. Heavy rain moved silt and ruins from the mountains, which filled the river bed and the flooded water flew into the basements, cellars and agricultural plots of the locals.

The Environment Protection National Agency spread information about the exceeded ultimate level of the Mtkvari river on May 21. The level of the river was measured nearby Tbilisi and it showed that the river level had exceeded the limit with 336 centimeters. As the Agency reported, the emergency signals are disseminated in case of exceeded 350 centimeters.

The event was organized within framework of the Road Safety Campaign of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which aims to raise public awareness about the road safety.

One day in the post-war Karaleti village

Karaleti – village in Gori municipality, Shida Kartli region. It is located on the Gori-Tskhinvali central motor-way. Locals recall the days of the 2008 August war. The crimes committed 9 years ago are still unresolved. The ruins of the destroyed houses are still standing in the village. The walls still have holes from bullet-cartridges. Locals have not forgotten the war days. The trace of the war is still visible in Karaleti.
Public Defender Evaluated the Situation in the Field of Tobacco Control

“In accordance to the Ordinance # 196 of the Government of Georgia, dated July 30, 2013, based on the data of the World Health Organization, from 9 000 to 11 000 people die annually in Georgia due to active or passive cigarette smoking, of whom 3 000 are victims of secondhand smoke,” reads the special report of the Public Defender of Georgia, which was presented on February 15 in the hotel Courtyard Marriot.
