The Human Rights Center Requests to Stop Election Process in Polling Station # 22 of Lagodekhi Election District

Kakheti region coordinator of the Human Rights Center Gela Mtivlishvili reported that municipal elections were rigged in the polling station # 22 of Lagodekhi election district. The Human Rights Center requests to stop election process and annul the results of the elections in the PS.

Observer of the Human Rights Center Marine Zardiashvili reported that unidentified number of ballot papers was dropped into the polling station # 22 in Karajala village of Lagodekhi election district; consequently, the elections were rigged.

According to Zardiashvili, she tried to prevent the violation and seized the ballot papers from the commission members but they forcibly grabbed the papers back and dropped them into the ballot box.

It is noteworthy, that the representatives of the opposition parties witnessed the incident in the polling station but did not protest it at all. Marine Zardiashvili called the member of the Lagodekhi district election commission from the Republic Party Gia Dvali who arrived at the PS # 22 but the PS commission member from the Republic Party did not confirm the violations in his presence.

According to the Kakheti News Center, the chairman of the Lagodekhi district election commission Ivane Zurikelashvili and representatives of the CEC visited the PS # 22; however, the observers reported that they did not react on the blatant violations of the Election Code at all.
