Ingilos (ethnic Georgian people who live in historical districts of Zakatala, Kakh and Balakan which currently belong to Azerbaijan) could not travel to Saingilo (the area where Ingilo people live) to celebrate the St. Giorgi’s Day there. The Kakheti News Center was informed that they tried to cross the border since morning but Georgian frontier police did not allow them to move along the bridge over the Alazani River.
“They suggested us to take a longer way via Lagodekhi district. It is too long way and we cannot travel by such a long route. We have family members and relatives in Kakhi; the graves of our close relatives are also there. They compel us to break off relations with everybody,” complained the Ingilo people living in Samtatskaro.
The Mughanlo Bridge, linking Georgia and Azerbaijan in Samtatskaro village was closed a month ago for the reconstruction.
