School Teacher Imposed with Bail for Beating Student

Telavi Regional Court imposed 3 500 GEL bail as a compulsory measure against the music teacher Maia Batselashvili in the public school of the village Jimiti of Gurjaani region. The Office of Prosecutor accuses the teacher in the offences envisaged by articles 120 and 125 of the Criminal Code.

Article 120 of the Criminal Code envisages intentional light damage to health and article 125 – physical assault that caused a physical pain of the victim.

According to the Office of Prosecutor, the music teacher Maia Batselashvili hit the panduri (musical instrument) in the head of the student that caused concussion of brain.

The judge will pass verdict on May 23rd. The trial is scheduled for 11:00 pm. In case the guilt is confirmed, the teacher might face 2-year imprisonment or a fine.
