Social Benefit Seized from Georgian Dream’s Member in Tianeti

June 18, 2012
Social Agency seized social allowance for Nugzar Nadirashvili, 51, a resident of Doreulebi village in Tianeti district. Nadirashvili is member of the Georgian Dream and his social benefit was abolished after he attended the meeting with the Coalition members in Tianeti.

“On May 15, Georgian Dream’s members had meeting with local inhabitants in Tianeti Culture House. Village governor Murad Doreuli and social agent Besik Gigauri met me at my house when I left it for the meeting at 8:00 am. The village governor did not say anything but Besik Gigauri was very active. He was blackmailing me with seizing my allowance if I went to the meeting. Next day, I met Besik Gigauri in the street and he rebuked me for having attended the meeting and requested to come to their office. There, I had to sign document to stop the aid,” Nugzar Nadirashvili said.

Nugzar Nadirashvili said 30-lari aid was the only income for his family.

Nugzar Nadirashvili lives in one-floor house in hard living conditions. His house is damaged; rain is leaking into the roof; walls are cracked and pulling down; windows and doors are also old and un-glassed. Nadirashvili has only one bed, two chairs, one table and wardrobe in the house.

“I have neither hens nor cows at home. I just have one donkey. I have been receiving allowance since 2008. All our villagers support opposition parties. Besik Gigauri blackmails everybody with seizing their allowances. Mostly impoverished people live here; young people are unemployed. Gigauri blackmails them with depriving allowances if they join Ivanishvili’s party,” Nadirashvili said.

Besik Gigauri denied Nadirashvili’s accusations.

“Nobody has abolished his allowance; it is false. I am not blackmailing anybody. Just the opposite, we try to assist our population and you do not have correct information. We have good cooperation with him. He can go wherever he wants,” Besik Gigauri said.
