Walter Kelin: The State Aid for IDPs Should be Implemented Without Any Failures

The official visit of the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in Georgia, Walter Kelin, is finished. The goal of his visit in Georgia was to discuss the national strategy of the governmental commission which was created to work on the national strategy. Kelin arrived here to express international support in implementation the strategy. “The rights of the IDPs was not protected properly during more than ten years because of the state policy. It is too difficult to realize the written statements in reality; however, it can cause the end of the long-term torture of IDPs in Georgia.,” said Kelin.According to the UN expert, the principal point of the strategy is that it was prepared after a long consulting. In the strategy preparing have been involved governmental organizations, IDP Associations, representatives of the public society and international society. Kelin recalled the government and the Parliament to vote the strategy through. “Simultaneously, the state aid for the poor IDPs should be retained on the same level. During the reform, we should avoid the failures in the field of communal service,” said Walter Kelin.Kelin recalls the donor organizations to support the Georgian Government and apportion corresponding funds to them.Source: GHN
