It Will Take While To Resume Imedi Broadcasting

Last night Luis Robertson, the Director General of TV Company “Imedi”, Bidzina Baratashvili the manager, Shalva Shavgulidze the lawyer, Sozar Subari the Public Defender and representatives of the EU entered the Imedi office.

Journalists did not have opportunity to enter the building but the operators of Ministry of Internal Affairs and two cameramen of TV Company were allowed in with their cameras. And they took some shots of the current situation in the building.

Bidzina Baratashvili stated that the equipment of TV Company is destroyed and apparatus from the central transmission office is taken away. Consequently, it will take a while to reestablish Imedi broadcasting and it is impossible to see Imedi programs in the nearest future.

According to Giorgi Targamadze, the head of Imedi TV’s political programs, all computers of advertising and transmission department are taken away. “Special apparatus for transmitting TV signal to the satellite disappeared from central office,” said Targamadze.

Sozar Subari, Georgian Public Defender, stated that all responsible people who ordered to raid Imedi office and who entered the TV Company should be punished and the investigation process should be immediately launched. Hence this morning only technical personnel will be able to enter the TV Station.
