Chaos in Pre-Election Lists

December 21, 2007
The deadline for the specification of the election lists passed on December 13. According to the Kutaisi district election commission number 59, they have considered all remarks and notifications from opposition parties and society. Thus, the election lists are amended. As it turns out though, the lists do not reflect reality. There are still dead people registered and some citizens have been registered twice.

“Bagrati street is not in Kutaisi election district number 40, but the residents of that street are mentioned in the lists of that district. They are also registered in the lists of another election district. We have mentioned this to the regional commission, but we have not received any reply from them. There are plenty of violations like these. There are also people in other districts who are not mentioned in the list at all. The regional election commission has only given the following reply: “we do not breach the law” - states Nino Janelidze, the office manager of the Kutaisi branch of the “Republican Party”.

According to the “Republicans”, they have observed some other violations for now.
