Shalva Ramishvili Is Supposed to Be Pardoned

Thea Abashmadze, wife of Shalva Ramishvili, journalist and founder of the TV Company “202” requested Nino Burjanadze, Interim President of Georgia to pardon her husband. Abashmadze made the request during the TV program “Primetime”. The Interim President promised to resolve the problem in the nearest future.

As Thea Abashmadze said she had collected many signatures of the citizens requesting the release of Shalva Ramishvili. 

Sozar Subari, Georgian Public Defender, made his comments on the request of Ramishvili’s wife. “I join the people requesting the release of Shalva Ramishvili. I will send a letter to Nino Burjanadze concerning this issue”, stated Sozar Subari.

Law enforcers arrested Shalva Ramishvili on August 29, 2005 and court sentenced him to a five-year-imprisonment for extortion.
