Human Rights Law Seminar

On February 25-26 a seminar was conduced on human rights law with the initiation of Georgian Constitutional Court and support of German Society for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) in Hotel Inturisti, Batumi. 

The seminar was opened by Giorgi Papuashvili, head of Constitutional court and Hanspeter Nintzel, who is the development policy adviser of German Consulate in Georgia. Iens Maier- Ladevig, former representative of German government to Human Rights European Court was leading up the seminar.

The theme of the seminar was Human Rights European Convention and its implementation in practice from the side of European Court of Human Rights and German Federal Constitutional Court.

The seminar also covered other issues, such as the right to property, the right to fair court and whether a plea bargaining is constitutional or not.

GTZ has been supporting the countries of south Caucasia in implementing legal reforms since 1993. Caucasian Initiation of German Federal Ministry of Economical Cooperation and Development tells that Germany had paid much attention to cooperation with south Caucasian countries. The latest initiation envisages the establishment of economical stability and development of democratic values in the region of the South Caucasias
