Georgian Soldier Died in Iraq

Giga Tatishvili, deputy commander of the United HQs of the Georgian Armed Forces, reported that on June 4 Irakli Kordzaia, sergeant of the peacekeeping military unit # 13 under the Georgian Defense Ministry died while serving his country in Iraq.

Georgian unit # 13 was called to the check-point of the military base Kler that had been bombed. As soon as the unit arrived at the base, the terrorists set off another bomb the and twenty-eight-year-old Georgian sergeant died.

The Georgian Defense Ministry will cover the expenses of the transportation and funeral of the Georgian soldier. The family of Irakli Kordzaia will receive 15,000 GEL as compensation.
