Eight Usenashvilis Family Members Need Assistance

June 10, 2008

Eight-member from the family of Usenashvilis, who reside in the village of Kvemo Magharo in the Sighnaghi District, are in dire need of assistance. Thirty-eight-year-old Lia Usenashvili reported to the Radio Hereti that nobody gives her products because of unpaid debts and her two-month-old daughter, Tamata, has not drunk milk for four days already.

Monthly income for the family is 102 GEL and it is spent on medicines. Children do not have enough food to eat.  They are currently living in the watchman’s cabin at the railway station. The room has a space of five sq. meters only.

The cabin, where the family has been residing for several years already, is damaged. The property of the family is two mattresses; children sleep on one of them and parents sleep on another.

“We don’t have kitchen, a bathroom and dishes to eat off of. We have never had a bed and have been sleeping on the concrete floor for 18 years already,” said Avtandil Usenashvili, the head of the family.

Family members reported they have claimed for the assistance with the village governor and district administration; however nobody has been willing to assist them yet.

Eka Guliashvili, PR manager of the district administration, stated their institution will address  the problem of Usenashvilis and try to assist them.
