Former Employees of Sighnaghi Library Demonstrate

A sit-in demonstration will start in the office of the director of the Art and Education Department within the Sighnaghi Municipality Administration this evening.

The demonstrators will be laid off employees of the Sighnaghi Library who continued to unemployed in the run-up to the elections,” reported Radio Hereti.

Eleonora Gelashvili and Lia Khatiashvili, the former employees of the library reported to the radio at the demonstration they will demand to be restored to their former positions.

Besides the library, Lia Khatiashvili also represents non-governmental organizations “Fair Elections” in Sighnaghi. She stated that before the elections Zaza Khatiashvili, Sighnaghi district governor, demanded her to work in favor of Nugzar Abulashvili, the single mandate candidate for the National Movement, and otherwise she was threatened with job loss.
