Clients Cannot Receive Money from People’s Bank

July 19, 2008
People reported to the Human Rights Center that they cannot get the money from regional branches of the People’s Bank.

A citizen reported that his relative sent nearly 10 000 GEL from abroad by bank; however he cannot get the money from the branch of the People’s Bank for a month already. He also stated that initially the bank administration claimed the money order was carried out through mistakes but later the person was declared the branch did not have enough money in cash and would pay the money only several days later.

Regarding the issue the Human Rights Center got in touch with the central office of the People’s Bank. The operator explained that we have to send a written request for the information and if they consider it is necessary we can get the reply.

During the recent one month regional branches of the People’s Bank ceased issuing credits. They stopped installments at shops; retired people also encounter some problems while getting their pensions. Many retired people have applied to the Human Rights Center after the parliamentary elections.
