Wasting of Budgetary Funds Continues Unabated in Lagodekhi

July 21, 2008

“The Citizens’ Service Bureau” has been functioning in Lagodekhi for 5 months now. However, the citizens do not know anything about it, which is strange when the district government spends 3 000 GEL on the Bureau each month.

Gia Gozalishvili, the head of Lagodekhi District told Radio Hereti that the bureau works ineffectively.

However, the Citizens’ Service Bureau is being transformed into the Lagodekhi District Board of Governor’s subordinate body. The District Sakrebulo has unanimous decided on this issue.

“The idea of “Citizens’ Service Bureau” is good but this body does not function as it should – at least it does not function normally. Moreover, citizens do not know about this body as well,” states Gia Gozalishvili.

Despite his words the district governor agreed that the bureau was subordinated to the District Board of Administration.  Assumedly he did not want to irritate Giorgi Tsveradze, head of Sakrebulo. He was promoted his favored people to various positions in the Bureau.

Representatives of the NGO “Association for the Civil Development of Georgia” have negatively evaluated how the Bureau will now become a structural unit of the local government. The representatives of the Association say that the local budget expenditure must not continue at least in the future for this purpose,

The Lagodekhians themselves have negative evaluated various facts associated with now that “the Citizens’ Service Bureau” is funded from the local budget as there are many other problems in the district to be solved and money could be better spent and not wasted.
