A Journalist Assaulted in Sighnaghi Board of Administration

 Gela Mtivlishvili, a journalist was assaulted physically and verbally by  representatives of the Board of Administration in the local government’s office. The securty removed the journailst from the building.

The journalist demanded that the Sighnaghi Board of Administration  information officer showed him {journalist}  his own {officer’s} decision on rejecting application of Giorgi Chkheidze, the head of GYLA about access to public information. The information was about the funding of Sighnaghi’s rehabilitation activities. 

The information officer as well as Pikria Jokharidze, the activist of National Movement Sighnaghi District Organization verbally assauled the journalist and then called for other representatives of the Sighnaghi Board of Administration. They twisted the hands behind Mtivlishvili’s back and ousted the journalist from the building. Jokharidze stated that they were instructed by Kakheti Regional Administration and Sighnaghi District Governor not to grant public information to the journalists.

Gela Mtivlishvili lodged an appeal against Sighnaghi District Governor for blocking public infromation.  The journast demands that the disciplinary accountability is imposed on the Governor.
