Court Ordered School Director to Issue Public Information

August 4, 2008

Lia Otarashvili, Judge at Gurjaani district court, ordered the director of Gurjaani public school to issue public information immediately.

The representatives of the Human Rights Center had requested the public information from the school and after being refused the center appealed to the court. The non-governmental organization requested information about the school budget and the reason for firing several teachers. Marina Utiashvili, the director, blocked that information.

Having received the documented decision the Human Rights Center appeals to the Board of Trustees of the Gurjaani Public School to impose disciplinary punishment on the school director for having breached the Georgian General Administrative Code; the center demands to resign her from the occupied position.
