Member of Georgian Conservative Party Detained

September 8, 2008

On September 5th, 2008 Demur Antia, head of Zugdidi Regional Organization of Georgian Conservative Party was detained.

Bezhan Gunava, member of Conservative Party: “Law enforcers planted a gun on Antia to  justify his legal arrest.  However, it is believed that the police wanted to arrest him due to his political activity and that Antia had been cooperating with an oppositional party.”

Demur Antia has been an active member of National Movement since 1988. He took part in demonstrations in November, 2007 and all the activities organized by the United Opposition.
