Due to Teachers’ Dismissal the Education Process Destroyed at Dedoplistskaro Public School

September 16, 2008

As a result of dismissing several teachers from Dedoplistskaro Public School #1the education process has been effectively destroyed there.

Laura Mangoshvili, the head of Dedoplistskaro District Resource Center told news agency Medianews that Maia Lapiashvili, the principal of Dedoplistskaro Public School #1 was dismissed due to the teachers’ appeal to the school board of trustees back on September 1st, 2008.

Laura Mangoshvili stated that the teachers appealed to the board of trustees with the request to explain why the school principal demanded appointment of two additional English language teachers when there had been 9 English language teachers at school. Consequently the appeal irritated Maia Lapiashvili and she proceeded to dismiss 16 teachers from their positions for having signing the written appeal.

Maia Lapiashvili was appointed Dedoplistskaro Public School #1 principal one year ago.
The dismissed teachers appealed to Dedoplistskaro District Governor’s Office, Kakheti Regional Administration and Free Trade Union of Educators and Scientists for help, but their efforts were in vain.

Maina Lapiashvili has returned two dismissed teachers on their positions.
