Human Rights Center Requests Drug Testing for Public Employees Kakheti Region without Notice

The Human Rights Center requests a program for without prior notice drug testing for public employees of the Kakheti region without advance warning. According to the center’s information, many drug addicts are working in local authorities  and other governmental structures.

Georgian Law on Public Service, Article 18-paragraph 4 estimates that everyone shall providethe certificate of medical-narcological examination before can be employed at a public agency.

According to official data, only 570 certificates have been issued in Kakheti region; though more than 1000 people are employed at local governmental agencies.
