Journalists Working in the Regions Will Establish Association

Independent journalists working in the regions of Georgia intend to establish an association of regional journalists. Initiative group works on the registration of the association is now underway.

Members of the initiative group stated that the aim of the association will be protection of freedom of expression and the rights of journalists. Journalists also intend to visit various Georgian regions where they will study and uncover local problems firsthand.

The first such study visit will take place on November 11 2008 in Gori.

Independent journalists working in Guria, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Imereti, Samegrelo, Kakheti and Shida Kartli decided to establish the association during the meeting held in Bakuriani several days ago.
