Regional Journalists Create Charter on Ethic Norms

November 18, 2008

”Center for Social Sciences” completed its working meeting in Gudauri, which was held with journalists that are currently working in Georgia’s regions.

The aim of the meeting was to work out ethic norms that will be drawn up as a part of a future charter, which all interested journalists will be able to sign.

”Law is very liberal and this grants a journalist many advantages. On the one hand it is nice but on the other side there is a need for responsible journalists to create a mechanism that restricts their rights in order to gain more trust among members of society. Since the sense of responsibility is high among regional journalists, we decided to work out ethic principles based on their initiative,” Ia Antadze, media expert reported to the Radio “Hereti”.

Journalists from regional media sources wrote an appeal to their colleagues; they call upon other journalists to sign the charter on ethic norms.
