Former Teacher Deprived of Electricity

November 19, 2008

Zina Luashvili, a former teacher of Russian language in Gurjaani Town Public School #2, has been living without electricity for two weeks now. She left the school and her profession of Russian language teacher in protest of the August war.

Zina Luashvili said that her only income is her pension that is spent completely on covering the medical treatment loan she had taken out when she was a teacher. Due to the grave social conditions the former teacher who is a pensioner now can not pay her electricity bill – 40 GEL. Electricity Distribution Company “Kakhetis Energodistributsia” Gurjaani Service Center cut off electricity supply to her a week ago.

The former teacher applied to the Department of Social Affairs of Gurjaani District Governor’s Office serval times but with no success. Aleksandre Imerlishvili, interim Gurjaani District Governor said that he would inquire about Zina Luashvili’s problem and the Gurjaani District Governor’s Office will try its best to help her.
