Kakheti Regional Prosecutor’s Office Takes Financial Documents from Regional Municipality Boards

November 24, 2008

Telavi district court satisfied the mediation of Kakheti regional prosecutor’s office and the financial documents of 2008 from Lagodekhi, Sighnaghi and Gurjaani municipality boards have already been withdrawn from the boards.

Based on Georgian government’s resolution # 125 issued on March 14 2008 and resolution # 327 of May 15, several days ago, Kakheti regional prosecutor’s office launched an investigation of unreasonable expenditures of 6,805, 200 GEL allocated in Sighnaghi, Gurjaani and Sagarejo municipalities. The investigation started after Human Rights Center had appealed to the prosecutor’s office and provided them with corresponding financial documents.

Reportedly, the allocated sum should have been spent on the rehabilitation of water-distribution system and inner roads in the districts of Kakheti region, as well as gasification of the villages, conducting repairs on the facades and roofs of residential buildings. The protocols of acceptance, AKTS, state that the scheduled works were implemented on a high level of workmanship. However, the bridges have already destroyed, roofs were blown off by the wind and the populace has not been yet supplied with water.
