Kitsmarishvili VS Society

December 1, 2008

On November 28 Erosi Kitsmarishvili, former Ambassador of Georgia to Russia, met representatives of the civil society at the Ombudsman’s office. The meeting was fixed after his recent scandalous statements. Several days ago, Kitsmarishvili made statements about secret negotiations of the Georgian authority.

Diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia, members of the non-governmental organizations and journalists attended meeting at the ombudsman’s office. Kitsmarishvili stated he could hand diplomats written variant of some details and evidence where concrete names would be listed.

Erosi Kitsmarishvili states that he had information about possible launching of the war but he did not make statements about it because he thought nobody would believe him then. He added that while his being ambassador in Russia he tried to arrange meeting of Russian and Georgian presidents. However, Georgian side avoided this meeting. “We could avoid the war. We had chance of peaceful and normal development. We needed good relationship with Russia as well as with other influential states of the world,” said former ambassador.
