Population vs. “Kakheto Power Distribution Company

December 23, 2008

Subscribers of the JSC “Kakheti Power Distribution Company” protest that they have to pay electricity bills according to the figures calculated by communal electricity meters. People blame the distribution company for having extorted a large amount of money.

Subscribers reported to the Human Rights Center that according to communal meters they have to pay more money than they have used. They also claim that each family has to pay extra 20 GEL and if they do not pay the bill on time, the power distribution company cuts the electricity off for the whole district.

According to the power distribution company the protest of the population is groundless because Power Regulation National Commission of Georgian allowed the power distribution company to use communal meters until June 1 2009.
