On December 1, the five-member-family of Iremadzes, residing in Melikishvili Street # 106 in Batumi, was evicted by police force. The police arrested two male members of the family because they resisted the process of eviction. Law enforcers did not make comments regarding the incident.
The family of Iremadzes settled in the territory of former “Energomsheni” in 1982. Family members state that they applied to corresponding agencies with the request to assign the property legally to them as a possession. However, in spite of all their attempts, nobody satisfied their request. The family originally comes from the village of Iremadzeebi in Khulo district but they could not live in the village any longer because their house was damaged by a landslide.
The Iremadzes state that they paid money to Davit Beridze, former director of the company, beforehand for the space. However, the “Energomsheni Ltd” sold the territory this year. According to the data of the Public Registry on September 10 2008 the bankrupt manager of the company sold the territory with the buildings on it to Mamuka Inaishvili.
