Gocha Dzasokhov and Leri Khabelov Have Fled From Georgia

December 25, 2008

Businessman Gocha Dzasokhov has fled to Moscow from Tbilisi and he blamed Georgian authority for persecuting ethnic Ossetians in his interview with the newspaper “Segodnia”.

Dzasokhov stated that Leri Khabelov, former vice-president of Georgian National Olympic Committee, was terrorized by Georgian government because of his Ossetian ethnicity. Consequently, the latter had to flee to Tskhinvali where he shelters in the tent for IDPs.

Zasokhov personally arrived in Moscow directly from Beijing where he attended the Olympic Games 2008 as the head of Sport Society “Dinamo” of Georgia.

Dzasokhov reported to Russian journalists that Saakashvili, who organized Bartolommeo’s Night for Ossetian people in Georgia, could not use him against his people and consequently, Georgian authority sequestered his business.

The businessman claimed that Georgian army destroyed Tskhinvali and Ossetian village of Dmenisi. He added that “Dimitri Sanakoev, head of temporary administration of South Ossetia, was making statements in Tskhinvali when the city was on fire. He was claiming that he was supreme authority in South Ossetia and hereinafter locals should have obeyed him.”

Dzasokhov stated that former Defense Minister of Georgia, Davit Kezerashvili, spread rumors about him on purpose as if he was fighting on Kokoiti’s side.

The businessman added that before appointing Dimitri Sanakoev to his position, Mikheil Saakashvili offered him to occupy the position of the head of temporary administration.

According to Dzasokhov, Saakashvili is persecuting Ossetians residing in Kakheti region too.

“Special units are deployed in Ossetian villages in Kakheti and take people to Ergneti, village in former buffer zone, in trucks. From there these people are forced away in the direction of South Ossetia. Strange people call upon locals in the villages “Go Away”, “Go Away”,” stated the businessman.

Dzasokhov stated that in near future he intends to involve political life of Georgia together with his partners and fight against “Saakashvili’s regime.”
