Office Confiscated to Irakli Okruashvili’s Party

January 13, 2009

The office of the Movement for United Georgia, Irakli Okruashvili’s political party (former Minister of Defense of Georgia) was confiscated in 27 Atoneli Street based on the decision of Tbilisi City Court.

Judge Vano Tsiklauri ordered to assign the office to the state.

The Movement for United Georgia gives political evaluation to the verdict of the City Court.

Eka Beselia, the secretary general of the movement, states that the court verdict is a punitive measure against Irakli Okruashvili.

The court verdict can be appealed within 14 days.

Eka Beselia reported to the news agency Medianews that the party will send the court verdict to the European Court within a week. This verdict will be included in the case on political persecution against Irakli Okruashvili.

The Prosecutor’s Office applied to the court with the demand of confiscating Okruashvili’s party office and assigning to the state of Georgia in October 2008.
