Water Leaking in the Classrooms of Mukuzani School

January 28, 2009

The inhabitants of Mukuzani Village, Gurjaani Municipality ask the Ministry of Education and Kakheti Regional Governor’s Office to pay attention to the village problem.

The locals have informed us that the village public school which has 129 students is rather damaged, water leaks in classrooms in the rain.
Maia Sidamonidze, the school principle said that the school is unable to carry out rehabilitation work because of lack of funds. As a consequence of this, the school administration applied to the Ministry of Education several months ago. However, the Ministry has not expressed any interest to the case up to present time.
If the school roof is not repaired immediately, studies might be stopped during the rain season in spring.
The Human Rights Centre received information from Gurjaani town Educational Resource Centre that the situation is much the same in other schools of Gurjaani district.
