Gurjaani Municipality Board Adopted Budget for 2009 through Violations

Gurjaani municipality board adopted the budget for 2009 through violation. Kakheti office of the Human Rights Center intends to appeal to the court against the municipality board and to request, abolishment of the budget.

Representatives of the non-governmental organization stated that despite the demands of the law draft budget was not published and publicly discussed. Thus, the law on “Single Budget of Local Self-Governance” was breached.

Zakaria Iaganashvili, chairperson of Gurjaani municipality board, also confirms that the draft was not publicized. However, he denies that budget was adopted through violations. The stated that board members do not have information about the demands of the law on the budget.
