Socially Excluded Teacher Asking for Assistance

January 30, 2009

Zina Luashvili, a socially excluded single teacher asks for the assignment of social assistance. She had applied to Gurjaani Department of the Agency of Social Subsidies several times in this regard. She claims that Khatuna Papunashvili, the head of the department insulted her during her last visit and dismissed her from the chamber.

“I live in extreme poverty. I have no income except for a pension, which is not enough even for buying medicines. I have no heating at home because I can not pay electricity bill. I have addressed Gurjaani Department of the Agency of Social Subsidies at least four times, but they didn’t help me and during my last visit to the department, I was kicked out of the chamber of the head of the department like a dog,”- said the former teacher.
The head of Gurjaani Department of the Agency of Social Subsidies does not comment on the accusation of the socially excluded woman.
Zina Luashvili is the teacher, who refused to teach Russian at Gurjaani Public School # 2 in protest at August events.
