Farmers Cannot Get Money for the Grape They Had Sold to Gurjaani Wine Factory Last Year

February 11, 2009

Farmers from various villages of Gurjaani district reported to the Human Rights Center that last year they sold red grape “Saferavi” to Gurjaani wine factory; although the deadline indicated in the agreement expired, the factory administration does not pay money to them.

“Administration of the wine factory promised us to pay the money till the end of November, 2008. However, we have not received any money yet. When we arrive at the factory they do not allow us in; nobody reply our phone-calls. We applied to the Gurjaani district administration for help several times but nobody assisted us,” said farmers.

Despite several attempts to get in touch with the administration of Gurjaani wine factory the Human Rights Center could not succeed.
