Kakheti Regional Governor Continues to Employ His Relatives

Giorgi Ghviniashvili, Kakheti regional governor, continues to employ his relatives in state institutions of the region.

Currently, according to Ghviniashvili’s order, Maia Nariashvili was appointed as an assistant to Gurjaani district governor; Maia Nariashvili is a neighbor and relative of the regional governor. Before that, Nariashvili was coordinating youth activities in the administration of the village of Chalaubani in Gurjaani district. For the parliamentary elections on May 21 2008 she was assistant to Giorgi Ghviniashvili, single mandate candidate from the ruling party. Nariashvili’s salary is 450 GEL.

Gela Kapanadze, friend and close person of the regional governor, was appointed as a chief specialist at the regional development service at Kakheti regional administration; his monthly salary is 700 GEL.

Reportedly, Giorgi Chiviashvili and Nodar Kochlamazashvili, new governors in Gurjaani and Sighnaghi district are relatives of the regional governor.

Giorgi Ghviniashvili does not comment regarding the employment of his relatives and close people in public institutions. He does not reply the phone calls from the Human Rights Center.
