Population of the Village of Zegaani Demands Kakheti Regional Governor to Keep His Promises

March 8, 2009

Population of the village of Zegaani in Gurjaani district demands Kakheti regional governor to keep his promises during the election campaign. Otherwise, 150 families are going to hold protest demonstrations on Telavi-Tbilisi central motor-way in order to attract the attention.

“Despite many promises the village is not supplied with gas yet. The village has both public school and nursery school but the buildings are so damaged that it is impossible for children to be there. Because of lack of agricultural equipment, the villagers cannot cultivate their plots,” reported TV Company “Gurjaani.”

As locals claim they received promises several times from new governor of Kakheti region; he was a single mandate candidate for the parliamentary elections on May 21 2008. Giorgi Ghviniashvili has not visited Zegaani since the elections; public officials from district and regional authority have never inquired about the problems of the local residents.
