Activists of National Movement and Former Public Officials Are In Charge of Funds for the State Program of Village Assistance

March 8, 2009

In the framework of the state program “Money for Every Village” activists of the ruling party and former public officials are in charge of the funds allocated for the implementation of the program; however, the population is complaining about the fact.

Activists of the ruling party and former public officials are members of the initiative groups who are authorized to conclude in which field the money will be invested. These groups were not set up by the population. They were set up by the members of municipality boards and village councilors.

Giorgi Sibashvili, deputy Kakheti regional governor, denies the information. He stated that local residents also participated in the creating of the initiative groups. “However, I will check the information and will demand each village the information about the members of the initiative groups,” said Sibashvili.
