Mother of Dead Patient Demands Punishment of the Doctor

March 20, 2009

On February 5, 2009 17-year-old Goderdzi Jankarashvili died in Tsnori Hospital “Janmrteloba Ltd”; his mother Eka Poladashvili demands punishment of the chief doctor Gogi Nikvashvili.

Eka Poladashvili reported to the Human Rights Center that she appealed to the Agency for the Regulation of Medical Activities within the Ministry of Labor, Healthcare and Social Welfare and Kakheti regional prosecutor’s office. “Goderdzi was taken to Tsknori hospital by ambulance. If Doctor Nikvashvili had not started operation two hours later and had not made mistakes, my son would have survived. Before starting operation we requested Nikvashvili to let other surgeon to operate on my son but he did not satisfy our request. After the first operation doctors failed to make exact diagnose and operated Goderdzi for the second time. It became the reason for his death,” said mother of the dead boy. She added that several days ago they requested the chief doctor of the hospital to show the histories of the dead patients in their hospital but he refused.

Gogi Nikvashvili does not comment on the accusations of the mother of dead patient.
