Lagodekhi District Governor Categorically Denies the Accusation of Firing Director of the Union of Nursery Schools on Political Grounds

March 27, 2009

Lagodekhi district governor, Gia Gozalishvili categorically denies that he has fired Nutsa Papava, former director of the union of nursery schools on political grounds. The governor claims that he has not demanded Papava to write a resignation letter.

Reportedly, Nutsa Papava was appointed as the head of Lagodekhi district HQ of “Aliansi for Georgia” several days ago. After joining the opposition, Papava stated that the Lagodekhi district governor demanded her to write a resignation letter.

“I have kept my position, because I have not written a resignation letter; and they cannot find any reasons for firing me. However, the district governor personally demanded me to write a resignation letter,” said Papava.

Gozalishvili categorically denies the accusations of Papava and states that the opposition spreads this information for their own PR campaign. They want to show the people that a  public official who has joined an opposition party is persecuted.

“Although the head of the union of nursery schools has joined an opposition party, she will not resign. She still continues her activities. Papava should not be afraid that somebody will make her leave the position. The opposition needs all that for their own PR,” says the Lagodekhi district governor.
