“Human Rights Center” Is Concerned about Physical Assault on Demonstrators

NGO “Human Rights Center” is concerned about physical assault of demonstrators. It is reproted that, masked people attacked members of Public Movement “Why?” at 11:00 p.m. The activists were moving across Baratashvili St. by their cars, when patrol policemen stopped them and requested their passports. After showing passports, strangers with three cars chased the activists?” The masked people in the car blocked Baratashvili St. and attacked the boys sitting in the car. Two of them were dragged out of the car; one of them was beaten in the car. The doctors diagnosed, Irakli Khukhuneishvili had brain concussion.

“Human Rights Center” assesses usage of violence against activists as a persecution of freedom of expression; the center is concerned and calls upon the international organizations and diplomatic corps to react on similar incidents. “Human Rights Center” condemns violation of fundamental human rights, acknowledged by all international declarations and normative acts.
