Community Defender Published Reported New Violations

Coalition of NGOs Community Defender reported, that taxi drivers who offered free service to demonstrators, were members of Security Service. Ucha Nanuashvili, executive director of the Human Rights Center reported about it. The Community Defender presented those violations, which happened yesterday night. “Yesterday at 1:30 am, the riot police stopped a car with a flag, beat a driver and broke the windscreen of the car. At 3:00 am patrol policemen told the drivers of the lorries, that Kobiashvili, their boss, ordered them not allow trucks to travel; so they took the truck, weighed the cargo, and since there was extra cargo on the truck and drivers were fined with 4 000 GEL,” Nana Kakabadze, one of the leaders of the Community Defender reported to the journalists. According to her information, at 11:30 the patrol police was checking mini-buses and passengers near Avlabari underground station. At 11:55 patrol police stopped chairman of Sighnaghi office of the “Republican Party” to check his passports in the village of Nukraini and did not let him go to Tbilisi. At 12:30 Mtskheta district had electricity switched off; also the electricity was switched off in Ortachala district in Tbilisi. At 12:50 patrol police did not allow mini-buses to go from Lamiskana to Tbilisi.

Community Defender suggests the demonstrators not to use free taxis.

According to Ucha Nanuashvili, taxi drivers near the Parliament building offer demonstrators free service. He said that the drivers are hired by Security Service and some of them have already been recognized.

Consequently, Nanuashvili suggests the demonstrators not to use free taxis.
