Davit Gamkrelidze: Member of the “New Rights” Davit Ujmajuridze Was Kidnapped and His Car Was Burnt

April 16, 2009

Davit Gamkrelidze stated that “Member of the “New Rights” Davit Ujmajuridze was kidnapped and his car was burnt.”

Davit Gamkrelidze reported the journalists in front of the Public Broadcasting about the incident. According to him, at 4:00 pm on April 15 former MP Davit Ujmajuridze was kidnapped near the supermarket Big Ben by his car. He was gagged, beaten and then left in Saguramo village outside Tbilisi. The car was left in Vashlisjvari which was burning.

“Ujmajuridze is assistant to clergymen and his gown was in the car. He was going to evening service when he was kidnapped. It is one more vandal fact organized by criminal authority. However, we hope similar incidents will not happen because this government will not stay in office for a long time,” said Davit Gamkrelidze.
