Incident between Patrol Policemen and Demonstrators

April 24, 2009

Chain of cars of the supporters of the Alliance for Georgia moving from the western Georgia blocked the central high-way close to the village of Marani in Samtredia district. The News Agency “Pirveli” was reported that the reason for the blocked motor-way was incident between the policemen and opposition supporters. More precisely, the press-service center stated that patrol police stopped the mini-bus which was following the chain of protesters and demanded the driver to produce documents.

“After that the driver of the mini-bus was not allowed to continue his way; the leaders of the Alliance returned to assist the driver and decided to block the traffic near the village of Marani,” reported the press-service of the Alliance.

Nana Gulordava, opposition member, reported to the Human Rights Center that the police allowed the mini-bus to travel to Tbilisi after having fined the driver.
